How much notice is needed?
In a perfect world, Reindeer Auto Relocation would like to have one to two weeks notice of your preferred transport dates. This insures that the assigned carrier can schedule your vehicle(s) within the time frame you requested. However, if you need to move a car immediately, we will be able to accommodate your request. For example, most transporters have secured terminals in major cities and can usually get a vehicle picked up within a few hours. You also have the option to drop the vehicle off at a terminal if you cannot wait for the carrier to pickup the vehicle(s).

How does it work?
Once your order has been placed, your shipment will be scheduled according to the dates on your order form. After a truck has been assigned, you will get a call either from the truck driver or from the flatbed service in order to schedule a pickup/delivery day and time frame. During the pickup of the car, the carrier will complete a detailed physical inspection of the car on the carrier's bill of lading that you must sign and acknowledge. This same inspection will be presented upon delivery so that you can re-inspect the car. If any damage occurred during transit, please be sure to note it on the bill of lading at the time of delivery and have the driver sign in agreement. No claims will be honored if the damage is not noted at the time of delivery and acknowledged by the driver. Your Reindeer coordinator will call you after delivery to make sure your delivery went well.

How long does it take?
Delivery of your vehicle will take anywhere from the same day to 14 days. Your car is being loaded on a car carrier along with other cars being delivered to other destinations. Delivery times fluctuate depending on the miles between your beginning and ending destination, the scheduling of car carriers in your area, the proximity to other cars being delivered on the same carrier, weather, and unforeseeable events such as traffic accidents and carrier break downs. Cars moving with enclosed carriers can take up to 21 days to deliver due to the supply of enclosed trailers available. Specialty moves that involve transporting your vehicle overseas via boat transportation (i.e. Alaska and Hawaii) may take up to 30 days to deliver. Other overseas deliveries may take longer. Your patience is appreciated with regard to your delivery date.

What kind of truck will it be transported on?
In most cases, your vehicle(s) will be transported on an 8 or 10-car open transport hauler; the same type of trucks used to deliver new cars to local dealerships. These trucks are 75 to 80 feet long (that's nearly twice as long as a conventional freight truck or moving van) and are almost 14 feet high. Therefore, they are very hard to maneuver and are restricted to main roads that do not have any overhanging trees or low clearance bridges. Please bear this in mind when directing the truck to your home or pickup location. A local service may be used should the hauler/transporter encounter difficulty in reaching your pickup or delivery point. (See Terminal Service below). Fully enclosed transport offers enhanced protection for your vehicle by providing custom-made air suspension vans and protection from road debris and the elements. Hydraulic lift gates that keep your vehicle horizontal at all times during the loading process (essentially, an elevator for you car) are available on most units. Lift gate loading minimizes the possibility of undercarriage damage and is strongly recommended for antiques, classics, or exotic vehicles that may have limited ground clearance. Winch loading is also available for inoperable vehicles or at the customer's request.

Will my car go to a terminal?
This may depend on your pickup/delivery locations and/or your scheduled dates for the pickup/delivery. Should your area not allow transport carriers or have restricted access, and there are no areas locally which can accommodate the loading/unloading of your vehicle(s), then a local flatbed service will be used to pickup/deliver your vehicle(s). A terminal service is also used when the carrier cannot pickup/deliver your vehicle(s) due to scheduling conflicts, inaccessible areas or both. All terminals used are secured, licensed, and fully insured.

What does door-to-door delivery mean?
Door-to-door delivery means the car carrier will get as close as physically possible to your front door as long as it does not compromise the cargo and/or your vehicle(s). If you live on a main road (at least 2 lanes wide) with no overhanging trees or low bridges, and the streets leading to your house can accommodate trucks of 75 to 80 feet long, then the carrier will pickup your vehicle(s) from your door and deliver it to your door, if the same conditions apply to your destination. As the driver approaches your pickup/delivery location, he or she will call you to confirm your address and discuss accessibility. If accessibility is limited, the driver may suggest meeting at a local supermarket or mall with ample space to load/unload your vehicle(s).

Can I put things in the trunk?
No, auto transporters are not permitted by law to transport personal belongings, as they do not have a household goods transportation license. By violating this federal law, they can be fined up to $10,000 per occurrence. In addition, if you were to place things in the car, they would not be covered by insurance.

Who will be my contact during transport?
Reindeer Auto Relocation provides full customer service from pickup to delivery with a transportation coordinator keeping in close personal contact with you throughout the whole transportation process. In case you would call after business hours, please leave a message with your coordinator. They will be paged through the system voice mail and will respond immediately to urgent messages.

What about insurance coverage?
You are provided with coverage for loss or damage of your vehicle up to the Kelley Blue Book value or a maximum of $100,000 during the time your car is in transit. Reindeer Auto Relocation is an auto relocation broker that uses qualified carriers across the United States to move cars for major corporations. All of the carriers that partner with Reindeer must submit proof that they carry insurance that will cover the cars and trucks they have on board. This insurance covers damage caused by accidents while the vehicle is loaded, major changes in the vehicle's condition, and unforeseeable damage that is a result of mishandling by the carrier.

What forms of payment are accepted?
Reindeer Auto Relocation accepts cashiers checks, cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Payment must be arranged prior to pickup. Payment will NOT be processed UNTIL the vehicle is picked up.
